Happy New Year!
We hope that you all had a joyful holiday season and were able to reflect on the good this past year brought amidst the challenges. At Envision El Salvador we have started the year off in full stride and are eager to share what’s in store for the new year of programming.
La Fuente
2020 finished strong in our La Fuente San Salvador ministry with the “X-Games Rally”, a finale to our spiritual and academic competition for the kids in the program. The rally challenged the kids through a series of team based games and activities. It was held at a local beach and included an overnight stay. The winning team, “The Braves”, was awarded a day trip to Portezuelo, an adventure camp in the mountains of El Salvador. It was an opportunity to connect with God in nature and a great way to celebrate a season of hard work!
La Fuente Apopa also ended the year with some fun. Games, piñatas, and food were all part of our Apopa Christmas party! During the festivities, presents were given to all of the kids in the program. The younger age groups received toys, while the older kids were gifted a trip to the movie theater. For the majority of the group, it was the first time they had seen a movie in a theater!
We are grateful for the ways God blessed and expanded the La Fuente program in 2020 and are taking steps to be good stewards of this growth in 2021. The La Fuente leadership team has added new roles in order to guide the two sites of La Fuente as a uniform program. Joaquin has shifted into the role of La Fuente National Director, while Saul has taken on the position of Site Director for La Fuente San Salvador. We would also like to welcome Ibis into the role of Interim Director at La Fuente Apopa. Hermana Ibis is from the Apopa community and has been volunteering with our intern La Fuente directors to lead the La Fuente Apopa program since its start. Together, this team will strive to seek out and implement God’s will for the La Fuente family. Programming with the kids will resume in February.

A final and exciting La Fuente announcement is that Fernanda has been selected as our new scholarship student! We look forward to seeing Christ work in Fernanda’s life through this opportunity and are grateful to all who have made it possible.

Ministry Opportunities
We want to remind everyone that 2021 will be full of opportunities at Envision El Salvador for interns and work groups alike. Jonathan and Shannon Ribich are beginning the process of transitioning out after a year of service as interns at our site. They will be passing off their role as directors of La Fuente Apopa and have their last work day on the 20th of February. Laura Rodriguez officially started her position as Site Associate and will be managing work groups and interns moving forward. If working with the youth of San Salvador sounds like something you might be interested in, reach out to our Site Director Tony Escalante at escalantet@weareenvision.com or our Site Associate, Laura, at RodriguezL@weareenvision.com for info on future opportunities!
Prayer Requests
-Pray for the La Fuente leadership team. That they would be given clarity and direction through the process of launching the new year of programming across 2 sites.
-Pray for the La Fuente students, as they prepare for the start of a new school year and a new year of La Fuente programming.
-Pray that the site would be blessed with work groups and interns this year. We have already received interest in both areas and look to God to solidify the decision for those who are being called.
-Pray for those traveling into and out of El Salvador for work at our site. That they would have safety of passage and be able to successfully navigate through COVID restrictions.
-Pray for continued health and safety of students and staff during the pandemic.
We are excited for all that God has in store for our site in 2021, thank you for joining us in this journey!
In Christ,
Envision El Salvador
