Our second group of the season has come and gone, and we've seen God at work, orchestrating incredible plans and blessing this ministry abundantly. We don't have many new pictures to share with you, but we do have the words of our testimony and how we've witnessed God at work among us...
As you read this, we are holding our first La Fuente retreat! We have several special guests coming to speak to our teens and we hope to create a space for them to deeply encounter Christ. Mario has been hard at work planning out all the details and we are excited to share with you how everything turns out. Look for updates on our Facebook page!
We are excited to share that God has remained faithful once again and has provided not one, but two math tutors through our new partnership with a local university! Lord willing, in the following week, they will start reviewing math material with the teens.
The Mavericks start their season at the end of the month. The girls have been training hard and are excited to take on another season. Please be praying for safety for each of our girls as well as strength and discernment for Coach Mario.
La Fuente FC
After a bit of a hiatus, our guys' soccer team is now registered in a tournament and they are waiting for the game schedule to be out. Our guys had been practicing even though they didn't have a league, and now they're more than ready to take on their new opponents. We praise God for this new opportunity for some of our newer teens to learn to depend on God in this way, and for our more seasoned teens to step up as leaders.
We ask you to continue praying for our two interns coming in May. Their names are Peter and Allen, and they'll be staying all summer to aid us in ministry and in the thick of group season. Pray for their fundraising efforts and for their preparation before the summer. We're excited to receive male interns and to see what God will do as they build relationships with our la Fuente guys.
Pray for our La Fuente program and the impact God is causing in the lives of our teens. We have seen small changes in their attitudes but some still aren't willing to give their lives completely to Christ. Pray that God would give them hearts of flesh, hearts that feel and break and are open to Him.
Help us to pray for the groups that are coming to serve with us this season. We have had some groups cancel, which is difficult for us to see. We look to God to provide the right number of groups for this season and to prepare their hearts and minds for ministry before they come.
We ask you to pray for our staff. We've been talking a lot about harmony and unity between us during our weekly devotionals, and the Lord keeps showing us how broken we all are. Pray that God would provide opportunities to seek harmony and peace and that he'd humble us every day so that we can allow Him (not us) to work in this ministry and bear much fruit. We hope to abide in the Lord in this way as well as put into practice Philippians 2:3-4: "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others."
Thanks to each and every one of you who reads these updates and who prays for our ministry.
It brings us so much joy to know that the Body of Christ extends so far out into the world, beyond so many barriers. Praise the Lord!
